Experts unveil the dark side of the moon of illegal immigration

Lawyers in Oran (western Algeria) put the veil on some chocking realities concerning cases of illegal immigration that involved young men who quit their home country from the western shores, including the son of a billionaire, an industrialist and university degree holder. While a top police border guard officer has revealed that a smuggler has garnered some 3.5 millions Algerian Dinars in the transfer of 350 illegal immigrants over 6 hours.

• Experts, university teachers, lawyers and volunteers at the Algerian Red Crescent met yesterday in a forum on the phenomenon of “illegal immigration” and revealed startling truths about illegal immigration in the western region, which spread to other social categories while it was limited in the past to illiterates, jobless and poor young men.
• Illegal immigration spread to another social category that leads a descent and easy life like a billionaire son who bought a boat and used it along with his fiends to cross the sea, in addition to a B.A holder who contacted his family informing them that he set foot on the Spanish soil.
• The lecturers pointed at some particular cases of illegal immigration mentioning the dangers the young desperate have to face in order to reach their goal, like those who travel in boats and freighters stuck inside cars, while others chose containers to reach the other side.
• Police officers has noted that this phenomenon has to be punished by law because it has an international dimension since it extends to Europe especially that the western coast is not very far from the Spanish shores as the distance separating the two sides doesn’t exceed 154 Kms.
