Facebook is used by 40 percent of Algerians

Algeria’s former secretary of state in charge of statistics Bachir Msitpha said the number of Facebook users in Algeria is about 16 million. That represents 40 percent of the population.

In the First National Conference of Facebook Users, Msitpha said the role of Facebook users in designing interaction with Facebook market is related to the State’s education, religious, media and cultural institution.

“Those institutions can regulate young people’s vision about Facebook. It is a means for marketing different cultures regardless geographical or ideological borders,” he added.

The Conference was held in partnership with Wafa cultural scientific association and young people and sports department in Blida between January 17th and January 19th.
