Families of 43 Algerian illegal immigrants meet with presidential Advisor

Three representatives of the families of 43 illegal immigrants, who are missing for more than 13 months in Tunisia, met Tuesday the adviser to the President, who listened to them, as they told him the details of what their children face in the Tunisian coasts on October 7, 2008, when they were lost on board of the rubber boat which was expected to take them to the Italian Sardinia in a stormy night.

  • “The advisor to the President listened to us for almost one hour and we gave him documents and some statements and telephone records that are the evidence that their children are detained in Tunisia, and we handed over dozens of complaints which were sent to the Tunisian Ministry of Interior and the Office of Zinelabidine Ben Ali, as well as the services of the Algerian Foreign Ministry and the Algerian diplomacy in Tunisia”, one representative says.
  • The representatives tried to convince the Advisor that their children are already present in Tunisia, as the meeting concluded with commitment of the official to respond within a month period.
