Feghouli: “Racism” Was And Will Remain A Nagging Problem In France
Algerian international football player, Sofiane Feghouli, has reiterated his full support for the Palestinian cause, saying that the Palestinians are the closest people in the world to his heart.
The striker of Turkish premier league side of Galasataray said that the support of the Palestinian people for the “Greens” of Algeria in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil moved him greatly and made him more connected to this outstanding issue.
“The 2014 World Cup in Brazil will remain as engraved in my mind similarly to all the Algerian people. I was very touched and I was following the joy of the Palestinian people and their strong support for us in the competition, a fact that was wonderful and made us feel good,” Feghouli said in an interview with the official website of Galasataray club.
He added, “We and the Palestinians are one people, because the presence of the Palestinian flag in all national team games is the strongest evidence of this. The Palestinians vented, despite their daily suffering due to the heinous Israeli occupation, their profound joy as the Greens of Algeria qualified for the second round in the 2014 World football Cup contest”.
Furthermore, Sofiane Feghouli underlined that he would not forget the harsh living conditions he had with his mother during his childhood, revealing to the “Turks” that he had always pledged to move his family members to a better place if he became a great football player.
As for the adverse “racism” phenomenon he experienced in France, Sofiane Feghouli said that this is normal for him and will remain so.
The Algerian international player added that this nefarious phenomenon increased significantly during the 1998 World Cup competition held in France when the French upheld their national side and frenziedly supported their country, which clinched the world title after defeating in the cup final match the Brazilian national squad.
