Many clubs are chasing Algeria’s international and Borussia Moenchengladbach player, Karim Matmour.

  • Turkish Paper Hurriyet is reporting that Fenerbahce looking to sign Karim Matmour, who currently plies his trade for Bundesliega outfit Borussia Moenchangladbach.
  • The 24-year-old of Strasbourg has exploded into life this season, producing a number of good performances that have aroused the interest of several clubs over the continent.
  • The Istanbul giants were reportedly chasing Matmour, a former Freiburg player, last summer but seem destined to face increased competition for the burgeoning talent in the January window.
  • It’s true that they were interested in me,” the player said of the summer movements. “A representative of mine got the offer and talked to both sides. Since then I have not spoken to anyone as I wanted to first concentrate on the [World Cup play-off] against Egypt.
  • Villarreal and Werder Bremen are two other sides reportedly keeping tabs on the player, who is contracted to Gladbach until 2012. A transfer fee would therefore be an issue, but there is no indication as to the two clubs’ valuation of the player.

Matmour has been an ever-present so far this season, but has only one goal to his credit, thanks largely to his successful switch to the right wing.
