FIFA and CAF to meet in Egypt to decide on a play -off match between Algeria and Egypt.
FAF chairman
The Algerian Football Association (FAF) has sent a formal request to the international governing body FIFA expressing the will to play a play off match versus Egypt in a neutral pitch in case of an overall same goal difference after the decisive match slated for November 14 in Cairo.

The move aims at reaching a consensus if necessary and calls on FIFA to sort out a fourth option to decide on the squad that will participate in the World Cup, knowing that the rules stipulate that in case of a total same goal difference a draw will be the last resort to designate the squad that will take part to the World Cup.

It seems the Algerian football officials have reviewed all the options and try to fill in the blanks that may create a precedent before the match in Cairo.

It should be noted that the Egyptian officials have doe the same and asked from the FIFA to clarify the situation as concerns the regulation in case of an overall same goal difference between the “Greens “and the “Pharaohs” at the end of the qualifiers.

Reliable sources revealed that the question will be decided in the coming few hours during a meeting between FIFA and CAF officials in Cairo. In case of a play off match this later will be scheduled on a neutral European stadium on November 18.
