FLN Crisis: Saadani wins the battle over his opponents

Interior Ministry sent a serious blow against the group of Abderrahman Belaiat, by refusing to give them a license to hold an emergency session of the Central Committee, therefore, making them lost the opportunity to overthrow their opponent, FLN’s Party General Secretary, Amar Saadani, who still enjoys the unlimited support of the President Bouteflika, despite the media and political campaigns against him, in the wake of his attack on Gen. Toufik, who is also called Mohamed Medine.
While Interior Ministry’s first attempt failed to hold the session, which was scheduled on Thursday in Mazafran hotels, it refused to receive a second request on the same day for a session at a later date, that was programmed by the group of Belaiat at the next week end, corresponding to 19 and 20 February in the same hotel, and referred the initiators to filing the application from Saadani.
Algiers’ authorities refuse to allow the group of Belaiat to hold the session, was not harder than the advice that was given by the city’s official in charge of organization in the Wilaya, who told them to ask permission from Amar Saadani, as he is the Secretary-General, who had the document of compliance with the law for the filing of the application, a situation that the supporters of Belaiat avoided, and did not wish to pass it before holding the emergency session which preparation sapped much of the efforts and time.
As for the signatures by two-thirds of the members of the Central Committee that was announced by the group of Belaiat, Senator Rachid Assas said: ” Many of the signatures they are talking about were employed in a time when the position of Secretary General was vacant, when Belaiat refused to call the session, and I emphasize to the brothers of the Central Committee that the license will not be granted, and the Wilaya will deal according to the law, and according to the results of the two sessions, the session of August, 29, which elected Saadani, and November 16, which commended the members of the Political Bureau”.
Rachid Assas criticized the refusal of Belaiat to call session before 29 August, and his enthusiasm to it today, telling Echorouk in a phone interview: ” We say to Belaaat; Seven months ago, we asked to to call the session, but you refused, and you told us, if I’ll have 300 signatures I will not call it, then he changed his mind while he heard about licencing the holding of a session on 29 August in Aurassi Hotel, this why he rushed in the same day and filled a request to hold a parallel session in Riad Hotel”.
