Flock Of Birds Causes Mechanical Damage On Air Algérie Plane
Air Algérie plane retreated after flying for 10 minutes from Algeria to Paris on Tuesday morning, as a result of an engine damage that was caused by a flock of birds.
Air Algérie’s General Manager, Reda Toubal Asseghir, said an Air Algérie plane that was heading from Algiers to Paris, returned back on Tuesday morning, shortly after taking off due to an engine damage that was caused by a flock of birds.
“The plane that included the flight AH1002, and during the departure phase from the Houari Boumediene International Airport towards Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport, when a flock of birds bird collided with it, as the flight commander felt the impact of the collision and decided to return to the airport for inspection and surveillance, in accordance with the safety procedures to verify the condition of the engine, and after the examination of the plane, technicians confirmed the need for a maintenance operation”.
“Air Algérie plane transferred the passengers to another plane to resume their flight”, the same official added.
In this regard, civil aviation across the world records between 5000 to 6000 accidents a year due to the technical faults that are caused by flocks of birds, and some airports across the world resort to many ways to keep away birds such as laser lights and simulation of sounds of distress, but they are not always useful.
