Football/ Algeria Cup 2009: “CR Belouizdad wins its 6th trophy”

The Squad of CR Belouizdad defeated the team of CA Bordj Bou Arrèridj in a penalty shoot-out, 2 goals to 1, (0-0 after extra-time) and secured its 6th trophy Thursday in the final of the Algeria football cup contest at the Mustapha Tchaker stadium of Blida, 50 km west of Algiers. 

• CR Belouizdad succeeds the JSM Bejaia squad (Winners in 2008) in the prize-list of the Algeria Cup competition. 
• This is the 6th trophy snatched by CR Belouizdad after those won in 1966, 1969, 1970, 1978 and 1995.
• The much-coveted trophy was handed over to the captain of CR Belouizdad at the end of the 120 minute-final by the President of the Republic M. Abdellaziz Bouteflika who was present at the Tchaker stadium, together with several government members, senior MPs and sporting world figures.
• CR Belouizdad’s Cup victory touched off a large-scale wave of joy and jubilation among the numerous fans of the club who took to the streets of the capital Algiers to voice their enthusiasm and merriment in a highly-colourful atmosphere until the early hours of the morning.
• The festive night was endless in the whole district of Belouizdad to celebrate this Cup victory !!!
