Football: Algeria will face Italy in friendly match next March

According to authorized sources from the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), its President Mohamed Raouraoua and his Italian counterpart Gian Carlo Abiti have agreed on the organization of an international friendly match between Algeria and Italy in March 2010 at the 5th of July Olympic stadium in upper Algiers. 

• This friendly game between the Algerian Fennecs and the squaddra Azzura is scheduled in principle for early March 2010 during the period set by FIFA for international  friendly matches in preparation for the 2010 World cup tournament to be hosted by South Africa starting from next June.
• However, the Algeria / Italy friendly will be cancelled in case the 2 national squads will find themselves in the same group after the draw of lots for the 2010 World cup due to be held next Friday in South Africa.
• The same sources added that the Algerian Fennecs would then play, instead of Italy, another high-level European national team as part of their preparation for the 2010 World cup competition.
