Football/ Division 1: JS Kabylie snatch Championship title well before the end of a hard-fought competition

Thanks to its 1-nil victory at home on Monday versus ASO Chlef, the team of JS Kabylie is assured of securing the championship title this season with 9 points ahead of its nearest rival USM Algiers .

USM Algiers jumped to the second slot after a meritorious 1-0 win at home against visiting ES Setif who hold the third spot in the standings with 40 points together with ASO Chlef.

USM Annaba came out victorious at home versus visiting USM Blida (2-0) while MC Algiers has gone further downhill after being held to a goalless draw by home-team MC Saida.

In addition to unfortunate MC Algiers, several other squads namely OM Ruisseau, MC Oran, CABBA, JSM Bedjaia and WAT Tlemcen are all threatened by relegation with only 5 matches still on the agenda of the first division football championship for this season.

The next matches are widely expected to be most decisive for all these hapless teams who want desperately to wriggle out of the danger zone before it is too late.
