Foreign Intervention In Libya Will Explode The Region
A U.S report warned of the dangers of the continued foreign intervention in Libya, and considered it a threat to stability in this country and prolonging the crisis in this country and in the region as a whole, the approach that Algeria had warned of its occurrence since years ago, asserting the need to search for a peaceful solution to end the worsening crisis.
The report was published by the American Enterprise Institute, and it predicts renewed armed conflict in Libya in 2018 as a result of the current political stalemate, and the worsening humanitarian crisis and the growing strength of terrorist groups such as ISIS and al-Qaeda.
The report attributed the continued deterioration of the situation in the eastern neighbor of Algeria to the interference of external regional powers.
It said that this would prolong the conflict and that ending the crisis also requires a comprehensive reform of the security sector in Libya, training and disarmament of everyone and implementation of integration programs.
As for the countries implicated in the Libyan crisis, the report spoke of the UAE and Egypt, and predicted that other countries would follow the example of Turkey, which might be forced to do so if Cairo and Abu Dhabi continue to threaten stability in the country by continuing to provide military, economic and political support to their respective parties to defend their interests, in reference to the commander of the so called Karama Operation, the retired general Khalifa Hafter.
The report went on to say that Russia would move to seize the opportunity and establish a military foothold in eastern Libya, and to carry out operations to combat terrorism and stabilize its presence on the shores of the Mediterranean, if foreign intervention continued in this country.
