Four Factories To Manufacture 40.0000 Algerian cars In 2017

Industry and Mines Minister, Abdessalam Bouchouareb, revealed on his program for the production of 40.000 cars that are manufactured in Algeria during the year 2017, by four factories which are Renault, Hundai, Volkswagen and Mecedes, as the import quota will be determined through this year’s fee soon, to supply the needs of the national market.

Bouchouareb said: “We reduced the import quota, but then we will produce 40.000 local cars”.

The minister added, during a working and inspection visit, that leads him on Saturday, to the province of Jijel (eastern Algeria), that the release of the Joint Ministerial Committee for the quota of car imports, will be flexible, and the Algerians will not have to wait for months without vehicles, as happened in 2016, pointing out that government realized its first experience in 2016, but this year will not be white for car dealers, who will attend the Vehicles Fair next September.

On the other hand, the minister returned to talk about the reduction of import quotas, saying: “We have imported between 2013-2014 one million vehicles, and we will not allow the repetition of the scenario today. Thanks to President Bouteflika, who has enabled everyone to realize the dream of the Algerian car in the past years, but the situation now is different”, revealing all preparations for the launch of the book of conditions for the marketing of used cars, which he said will be marked by precision, and will be drafted well without gaps to enter into exploitation in 2017.

During his visit to the Algerian-Qatari iron and steel company in the industrial region of Belara, in Jijel, (eastern Algeria), he explained: “The factory will enter into service officially by next April, 25, or by the beginning of May at the latest in 2017, and it comes to the first line of production, and the rest of the lines will enter into service by the years 2018 and 2019 respectively, and the production capacity will rise from one million tons to two million tons, and up to 4 million tons by the end of 2019”, knowing that the company was supposed to be inaugurated by the end of next June, I.e it is pre-empted by two months.

With regard to Hajar company for Iron and Steel in Annaba (eastern Algeria), the minister attributed the delayed inauguration to the extension of the evaluation process which it underwent after the Indian partner’s departure for months, saying: “Today we got rid of the problems, and the launch is no longer far away”, refusing to compare the Bellara and Hajar factories, asserting that both factories will work in coordination to achieve self-sufficiency in the national market for steel by the year 2018, to convert the Algerian eastern region to a large industrial pole for the exploitation of the region’s mines, and reaching later the export to abroad .

“Hajar company noticed major problems and we solve them, but we can not give an official term for its launch”.

With regard to the cement crisis, and the high prices on the black market, the minister confirmed that this scenario will end as soon as the launch of new production units will begin, as the offer will exceed the demand.
