Political office of Algeria’s National Liberation Front (FLN) entrusted Secretary General Amar Saadani with the prerogative of notifying discipline commission to hold the party’s executives who ignored its statute and internal rules and regulations accountable.

Said Bouhadja, member at the office and an official spokesman for the FLN said a set of wrongdoings were committed by some of its members. “We believe that it is necessary now to reactivate the discipline commission to impose sanctions stipulated by the statute, rules and regulations.”

“The discipline commission led by Omar Ouezani will decide in the names which must be held accountable,” he told Echorouk on phone on Tuesday.

The political office’s former coordinator Abderrahmane Belayat said the members who will be punished by the commission are those who derived from the party’s line including support for President Abdelaziz Bouetflika in the presidential elections.

“Of them, there were those who had preliminary positions before President Bouteflika had decided to run for office. Others expressed a different position. Furthermore, the commission did not meet to issue a decision. Actually, they are free in their positions and they have to bear their responsibilities,” he said.

He believes that Saadani may target him, saying that would not worry him but it would complicate further the situation. “We continue calling for holding the central committee session to elect a new leader for the party.
