Fraudsters swindle 46 billion centimes (DA) from credulous car customers

The National Gendarmerie has dismantled a network specialized in fraud and use of fraud with its defrauding members inciting credulous citizens to buy cars and trucks of various sizes belonging to a car production company, and as a result of these dishonest practices, 29 victims suffered an overall financial loss of nearly 46 billion centimes (DA).

The details of the case date back to 10 April 2017, when one of the victims moved to the headquarters of the regional command of the National Gendarmerie in the municipality of Birkhadem where he lodged a complaint against  a person named “L.” for fraud, swindling and treason .
After the thorough investigation into the case conducted by the relevant Gendarmerie services, it was found that the suspect had swayed his victims and convinced them to pay for the acquisition of new utility cars and trucks of various sizes from a private vehicle company.
They also unmasked in the ensuing investigative process two other accomplices who were working in one of the commercial agencies for the sale of cars based in the capital and who used to forge sale documents with the aim of swindling customers.
The National Gendarmerie Investigators belonging to the Birkhadem Regional Command also revealed that the total financial amount paid by the victims of this fraud, dishonesty and treason affair, amounted to 45 billion and 926 million centimes (DA), while 600 million centimes (DA) were recovered after the suspects’ homes were searched as part of the in-depth inquiries.
