French Ambassador: “France-Algeria relationship is unique and unparalleled”
France’s ambassador to Algeria, his Excellency Bernard Emie, has revealed that the French Prime Minister, Manuel Valls, will pay a working visit at the beginning of next year to Algeria at the head of a large ministerial delegation.
Taking the floor during a reception he gave at his residence on the occasion of the French National Day on 14 July, the French ambassador said in the presence of several Algerian ministers and distinguished guests that “bilateral cooperation was progressing very well “while recalling the words of the recent speech of French President François Hollande, Quote:” We decided to build a common future together, totally different from the past, and at the same time, not to be oblivious of the things of the past”, Unquote.
Ambassador Bernard Emie noted in his speech that it is the solid trust that exists between our two countries at the diplomatic and political level which allowed to reach a peace agreement in Mali, crowning a sustained Algerian mediation fully supported by France, adding that this trust will enable both countries to pool their efforts to reach a similar reconciliation agreement in Libya, in cooperation with the international community, as it helped to unite the efforts of the two countries in the fight against the scourge of terrorism that hit Algeria during the black decade and more recently the cowardly assassination of French hiker Hervé Gourdel in eastern Algeria.
Economically, he spoke of the French projects set up in Algeria in the framework of the “win-win” partnership, like the Renault factory-Algeria Oran, Annaba Alstom, and the projected Peugeot assembly plant in western Algeria.
Culturally, he mentioned among other things that over 23,000 Algerian students are now studying in France.
