French Colonialism Cut Off Heads Of Martyrs, As “Daesh” Is Doing Today
The Algerian League for the Defense of Human Rights said it had decided to commemorate the anniversary of December 11 massive pro-independence demonstrations in Algeria in a different way, in which the official authorities were reminded of the need to require a formal apology from France for the heinous colonial crimes committed against the Algerians for over a century and a half of the brutal French colonial occupation.
In a statement received by “Echorouk”, it said that it had been seeking for the fourth year an official apology for the horrendous war crimes committed by the French colonialists against the leaders of national popular resistance waged during the nineteenth century, as was done with the remains of 37 Algerian leading resistance fighters whose skulls have been shamelessly exhibited at the Museum of Natural History In Paris since 1849 after the abuse of their bodies and the slicing of their heads as worldwide condemned terrorist organizations such as “Daesh” are doing today.
The Association explained, based on the information provided by the Algerian historian Farid Belkadi, that the skulls of Algerian Martyrs such as Cheikh Bouziane, the leader of the resistance of Zaatcha, and Cheikh Charif ben Mohamed ben Abdullah called “Boubaghla”, the then leader of the resistance movement of the Dhahra and Ouarsenis regions… and other fighters of popular revolutions in the first fifty years of the French occupation of Algeria, are now displayed in this Paris museum.
The Human Rights Association added that it firmly condemns the cutting of the heads of valorous Martyrs after their assassination and called on France to apologize for all its appalling colonial crimes, especially as the families of these lofty Martyrs were prevented from receiving their bodies and honoring them for burial.
The Association noted that the number of Martyrs of Algeria ranges from 9 to 10 million in a century and a half of time, and that there must be a political will to force France to formally apologize to the Algerian people and not to obfuscate or forget this blatant historical fact.
The Association also strongly hit out against the unspeakable crimes spawned by the devastating nuclear tests conducted by colonial France in the Algerian Sahara in conjunction with the Zionist entity and which caused the deaths of more than 42 thousand innocent Algerians and injured thousands of others due to the nefarious effects of the sprawling nuclear radiation in the region.
