Vice-president of the French-Algerian Popular Friendship Association Yahia Mekki Saturday said there is a deficit of 400,000 euros. Because of that, doctors may not be able to save more than 3,000 new patients expected for the 2017’s program.

Mekki called on Algerian executives in a meeting in a Paris to those patients who could not afford travelling to Europe for treatment.

“Our medical convoy’s results in 2015 were positive. In 2016, doctors carried out 529 surgeries for free in many Algerian hospitals. They also conducted 1,671 medical examinations and 3,265 medical consultations,” he said.

“We have spent all our money and we could not accomplish the plan to develop our medical projects in 2017 in Algeria. We need to buy a microscope with a high technology for diagnostics and treating tutors in children’s brains. It costs more than 300,000 euros,” he added.

He also said that the association could reduce the price to 190,000 euros after negotiations.

“Because of that, the idea of holding this meeting with the Algerian community in Paris came. We call on Algerians to help us to overcome this problem. The next campaign will start on February 11th at Tlemcen Hospital. It will reach other towns such as Bordj Bouarreridj, Adrar, Tamenrasset, Tiaret and Batna.”
