Gaid Salah: “Dialogue To Get Out Of The Crisis, Solutions Will Be Found Soon”

Maj. Gen. Ahmed Gaid Saleh, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army, called on Tuesday for a serious, realistic and constructive dialogue to resolve the country’s crisis, asserting that Algeria cannot tolerate further delays.

He spoke for the first time about “national elites and personalities” confirming that “They should participate in the quest for access to safety, and that the Algerian people do not forget the difficult period that the country experienced during the nineties.

Gaid Saleh said, on Tuesday, during a briefing that was attended by the frames and members of the sixth military region in Tamenrasset (southern Algeria): “I confirmed on more than one occasion and I reiterate that the only way to resolve the crisis in our country is to build a serious, firm, realistic, constructive and visionary dialogue that puts Algeria above all else. The rule of dialogue means everyone is ready to listen to everyone in calm and commitment and to look forward to the inevitability of finding appropriate solutions without delay.”

“The Algerian people are loyal to their country and aware of the importance of speeding up the appropriate solutions to this crisis, and do not want to repeat the experiences of the past, which had suffered due to its negative consequences, and can not forget the bloody period of the nineties, and we, as Algerians should take the lesson from the previous experiences and the past tragic events and the only loser was the homeland and nation, so we confirm the urgency of the need for all parties to have a sense of responsibility.”

Gaid Saleh called for the participation of elites and patriotic national figures in the dialogue: “This dialogue, in which national figures and elites must be loyal to the homeland and to its sacred supreme interest, is a sincere and objective dialogue in which the circumstances of the country are assessed, for the sake of the homeland, in this way the differences between the different views are erased or at least reduce the distance of divergent views. Nothing is above the interest of Algeria and everything is possible in its success.”

“Algeria today is waiting for every sincere effort that is done by its sons, especially national figures with the ability to make the right contribution to ensure the solutions that are expected. The solutions will come, Inshallah, and soon because our confidence in our people is great, and our confidence in Allah is greater and the army is succeeding to accompany the people of the homeland, and they submit their constructive proposals in the service of what is required by the noble national duty, and history will record every effort to find the right way out of the Algerian crisis, as the one who wants to find a solution can reach it, provided that the quest is characterized by sincerity”.

Armed Forces Will Remain Faithful To Their Covenant To Accompany The People

“As I have already confirmed, I reaffirm today that the national army will remain faithful to its commitments to accompany the Algerian people, state institutions and the justice system. I would also like to emphasize, as I have stated in my previous interventions, that we have no political ambitions, but to serve our country and our army, in accordance with our constitutional duties, and we will not deviate from this position,” Maj. Gen. Gaid Salah said.

“We say this, and we are aware of what we say, because we view the reality of the crisis as a realistic and deep reflection in terms of backgrounds and goals, and in terms of the near and far effects on the security and future of Algeria, our analyses are objective and logical in which we rely on understanding the sequence of events, their interdependence, their course, and their ultimate goals and objectives, and we use all of this with a strategic view based on reliable information on what is happening, knowledge of what may be going on and a deep examination of all aspects of this multifaceted crisis.”

Gaid Salah reiterated that the dialogue between the various parties should realize the popular demands, which are many and concrete, with basic foundation and serious starting point: “In this sense, we consider that the main focus of the efforts of the good people of Algeria a frank dialogue axis which it makes sure that the road map of this dialogue will be clearer through the seriousness of the initiatives and through the rationality that is put forward.”

“The priority now, and I repeat, is that everyone believes in the importance of moving forward towards a fruitful dialogue that will bring our country out of this complex period and thus ensure the path towards the next presidential election as soon as possible. I say as soon as possible away from transitional periods which consequences cannot be predicted”.

“Algeria cannot bear more delay and more procrastination, and the solution lies in the hands of the loyal Algerians of their homeland, who will find this solution though, and once again, the dialogue that is leading to reconciliation and agreement on the inevitability of the necessary action for the presidential elections as soon as possible, there is no justification at all for continuing to waste time, as time is gold and there is no need to waste it in futile discussions away from the real, sincere and constructive dialogue, nothing is impossible and Algeria waiting for a legal and constitutional exit that prevents it from falling into any form of the crisis”.
