Army Corps General, Ahmed Gaid Salah, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), praised this Thursday at In-Amenas (Illizi province), the national armed forces for their unflagging efforts in implementing the program of combat readiness, meant to cope efficiently with the security challenges often imposed by border areas.

Indeed, Ahmed Gaid Salah has carried out since Wednesday a working visit of inspection in the 4th Military Region, which is part of the assessment of the performance of the combat readiness program for the year 2015-2016 through tactical exercises and to ascertain the readiness of ANP units deployed along the country’s borders and through periodic field visits to various military regions during the holy month of Ramadhan, said a statement from the Department of National Defense (MDN).

As such, at the northeast operational area In-Amenas, in Illizi province, Army Corps General Gaid Salah oversaw the execution of a tactical exercise with live ammunition, in close to real conditions and attended by various units of army and air forces, at their head the 41st Armoured Brigade.

In the Field of maneuvers and accompanied by Major General, Cherif Abderrazak, Commander of the 4th Military Region, Army Corps General Gaid Salah oversaw the combat actions of the units involved, which were “distinguished with remarkable professionalism at all their stages, with a tactical and significant operational level, reflecting a planning rigor and smooth organization.”

At the end of this military exercise and at a meeting of debriefing and evaluation stages, Army Corps General Gaid Salah met with the elements of units engaged in this endeavor by extolling them for “their hard work, carried out throughout the year so as to achieve all-out combat readiness, especially in the preparation and execution of this military exercise which was crowned with a complete success and coincided with the holy month of Ramadan,” the MDN statement added.

For their part, all the managers and personnel who took part in this tactical exercise reiterated their “full and all-time availability to defend the country’s borders against any possible threat, whatever its nature and origin.”
