Ghardaia: residents ask for army special forces
Security forces Sunday identified people suspected of killing a 22-year-old man in the province of Ghardaia (south of Algeria) while investigation are going on to identify the killer of a 42-year-old man.
Tens of residents in the municipality of Berriane took to the street to call for the release of arrested persons and the identification of masked man who attacked a mosque.
A new security plan will be executed in the next few days as new security units and check points will be deployed. Towns will be searched to protect residents and voting offices following recent escalation in the province.
Security forces were also provided with two helicopters to shoot what is happening in clashes place.
This comes as Ibadi notables’ council submitted an urgent request to the National Popular army to deploy its special forces and provide military hospitals.
The council said fire was opened after a large number of people had been wounded by knives while authorities did not react to frequent violent events.
Shopkeepers went on strike to protest against the lack of security. They expressed anger over skirmishes and disorder as many shops were stolen. Schools are still closed.
