Ghardaia tragic events: State compensations of between 30 and 70 million centimes for those affected… and 70 million centimes for each victim
Local authorities in the province of GhardaIa in southern Algeria, have started a salutary operation aimed at the settlement of the status of those populations affected by the recent tragic events which wracked the province and which claimed 23 lives and led to the burning of dozens of houses and shops, with on focus the distribution of 364 aid decrees for the benefit of those affected including 202 ones in the towns of Guerrara and 162 others in Berriane.
These decrees provide for the granting of 30 million centimes (DA) for those shop-owners affected by partial burning, and 70 million centimes for those who sustained the complete burning of their businesses in both unrest-beset towns of Beriane and Guerrara and elsewhere in the province of Ghardaia.
The financial compensation package also included the allotment of 70 million centimes (DA) for those families of the 23 victims who lost their lives during the inter-community clashes earlier this month in several parts of Ghardaia province.
The overall security situation there has now drastically improved and calm has been restored thanks to the deployment in the region of extra security forces backed by ANP elements who have now the situation well under control.
The local Wali or Governor, Abdelhakim Chater, meanwhile assured in a press statement that “the Government and local social partners in the province of Ghardaia are striving to erase altogether the stigma of the unfortunate events experienced by the residents of the towns of Guerrara and Beriane at the beginning of this month”.
