Government approved new procedure to combat cyber crime in Algeria

Algerian government approved new procedures and measures to control the electronic communications to ensure they are not used by terrorists in planning for their destructive and criminal attacks.

 

  • Government also decided to develop a national security service to combat the cyber criminality while the green light was given for courts to extend their services in order to protect this defensive strategy of the country when they are targeted.

  • The new procedures, containing the draft law on the prevention of crimes that are related to information and communication technologies, help the government formulate the necessary technical arrangements which enable it to control the electronic communications and collect then record their contents in the right time, as well as taking measures of search and seizure before the information are disseminated on the web sites in case of availability of information on possible attacks on the system of information of the state of national defence or public order with a view to the prevention from any criminal attacks and terrorist destructions which affect the state security.

  • Protecting the state security is the task of the general attorney of Algiers court council. He is also responsible on requiring six months licences for the judicial police officers, who belong to the national services for the prevention of cyber criminality, to enable them break in to, inspect and control the internet cafes in the various Algerian regions, which are believed to contain data that are searched by the security services.
