Government to reconsider its family allowance’s policy
During the various ministerial meetings dedicated to the discussion of the next year’s financial law, the cabinet has raised the possibility to call on the companies to stand for the family allowance instead of the treasury, governmental sources revealed.

The proposal will be submitted for debate during the next meeting between the government and the economic operators due to take place after the holy month of Ramadhan, in move to find a consensus concerning this tricky issue.

The family allowance case is one of the questions raised to debate during this meeting in addition to the revision of the guaranteed minimum wage as well as the compensation system. The government received a report revealing that the treasury was exhausted by huge sums of money spent in the family allowance which were drying out its sources.

The government is seriously reconsidering its plan as concerns this question because it considers it aberrant that the treasury continues to sustain this policy while hundreds of national and foreign companies are registering record rates of profits but do not stand for their employees’ family allowance.

Family allowance is given to insured married employees for children under 17 and the amount varies between 300 to 600 Algerian Dinars per child according to the salaries.
