Green Belt, Special Shields To Secure Algeria-Morocco Border

Maj. Gen. and Commander of the National Gendarmerie, Mennad Nouba, ordered the officials, who are responsible of security on the Moroccan-Algerian border, to exercise caution and to prevent any penetration through imposing tighter control on borders and forming a “wall of repelling” that consists of army of armed men to prevent drug trafficking and standing in the face of the barons of Algeria food, medicines and fuel smuggling.

Nouba took advantage, on Tuesday, of his visit to Bayadh and Naama border points, to order the updating of security schemes according to the field requirements and the criminal map, and increase the level of operational performance, in the areas of gendarmerie on the border provinces in the west of the country, with the need to coordinate with units of the army and other security services.

Major General, Nouba, ordered during the inauguration of the group of border guards in Ben Ammar and the new headquarters for air squadron in Machria in Naama province, for the need to recruit units of the border guards and units of research and intervention, and the formations of air squadron to monitor the region, and secure the western border, in order to address the smugglers,.

He also ordered the activation of the battalions of roads security at the level of all provincial roads, and the east-west highway, all the entries and exists to thwart any smuggling attempt.

Gendarmerie commander, asserted during the ceremony of the inauguration of intervention group in Boukotb, in Bayadh Province (western Algeria), the need to renew the regional plan and strengthen surveillance capabilities and intervention for valuing a sense of security among citizens, and repelling the criminal acts.

“Peri-urban areas are currently addressing, through separate operations within the framework of the so-called Flash Operations, the various criminal acts”.
