A high-speed train “TGV” will be created to ensure transporting passengers of the three Maghreb countries “Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia” in parallel with the company’s plan to update and maintain the existing lines to reach 12,500 used lines within 2025, General Manager of the National Company for Rail Tansportation, Yacine Bendjaballah, announced on Sunday, while being the Guest program at the First Algerian Radio Channel.

“There is a project to develop a high-speed train “TGV ” that moves from Morocco and passes through Algeria to reach Tunisia. Studies actually began in Algeria to realize the project and make it in the service of citizens of the three countries of the Maghreb, to make it easier for passengers of the three countries to move by rail lines, instead of resorting to the airlines.”

“This project falls within the planned rail transport company that aims to update and maintain its equipment, and current lines, which it exploits, including 4,000 km currently only, in order to exploit about 12,500 km on the national level and electrification, establish the necessary signals and enter the wireless phone, which means updating all the lines completely and comprehensively within 2025.”

“The process allocated 127 billion ZDZ for the implementation and initiation since 2014, through providing an order of the acquisition of 30 locomotives to transport goods from American companies and 17 locomotives of French companies that start from next week on the rehabilitation process with about 202 wagons at workshops of Sidi Bel Abbes.

On the other hand, the National Company for Rail Transport began today in Algiers, an awareness campaign to address the phenomenon of violence and abuse the trains. Awareness campaign includes a rich program and various activities like the open doors of various railway stations, and visiting schools that are adjacent to the railway to provide lessons for pupils about the trains and how to be protected from them.”
