Hotels are allowed to exploit beaches in Algeria
The Algiers tourism director Salah Ben Akmoum said 12 hotels will obtain he right of exploiting beaches in Summer 2017. “This aims at modernizing tourism services in Algiers,” he told Algeria News Agency (APS).
The director stressed the necessity of modernizing tourism sector to improve hotel services and follow international experiences.
According to the same source, beaches next to the hotels will be exploited in conformity with conditions and deadlines. Modern equipment will be installed and improves services will be offered.
“This will happen during the next four months of holidays. We want to promote tourism in Algeria and reach competition.
Those new measures come to eliminate negative phenomena noted last year. Beaches are controlled by “mafia” who blackmail them or others in return for money.
All it seems that the tourism ministry wants to launch hotel experience in favour of clients.
Yet, fears are raised over prices imposed by hotel. Some fear that beaches would become private property and not allowed to many people.
