Houari Boumedienne’s family to sue Said Saadi over overwhelming testimonies

In a declaration to Echourok the late Algerian president Houari Boumedienne family’s lawyer, Abdelhafidh Kourtal has indicated that a complaint was logged against the Secretary General of the political party Rally for Culture and Democracy ( RCD) M. Said Saadi for defamation in the wake of the release of his book “ Amirouche.. a life, two deaths, a willâ€; in which the political leader accused the late president Boumedienne of masterminding the killing of revolutionary hero.

The lawyer has declared that the late president’s family, represented by his two sisters who live here in Algiers, were deeply affected by the content of the book and consider these allegations as pure “ lies”. They regard Saadi’s writing as slander on the president’s good reputation.

Said Saadi has relied on “classified” documents mostly collected from the French Military archives to relate some historical events surrounding Colonel Amirouche’s revolutionary action and his martyrdom including a letter sent to then- French Prime Minister that contained a detailed report on the killing of Amirouche.

The report gives insights on the military operation carried out by the French troops in the mount “ Thamer” in which the colonel Amirouche and his companion Colonel Si Lhouass were killed in March 29, 1959.

Said Saadi has accused the former Algerian Ministry of Armament and General Intelligence “MALG” led by Abdelhafidh Boussuf and the commander in chief Colonel Houari Boumedienne of denouncing the two colonels to the French military troops and informed them of their locations.

The book has sparked huge controversy well before its release when the author has accused the national library of attempting to prevent the granting the serial number “ISBN” that allows its release on the market.

It should be noted that colonel Amirouche’s son, Noureddine Ait Hamouda, has led a large campaign in favour of Saadi’s book and has backed the author’s plotting theory masterminded by Houari Boumedienne , going even further when he declared that the late president has plotted for the assassination of his father in 1957 in Morocco but colonel Amirouche cancelled his trip at the last moment.

The colonel was in a conflict with the revolution command abroad and the provisional government accusing the m of tightening the rope on the freedom fighters, forcing him call an extraordinary meeting in 1958 , known as the “ Colonels Summut”.
