Illegal immigrants try to suicide collectively after being stopped

Extreme emergency was set up Tuesday evening at the coasts of Annaba, east of Algeria, where all the units of the Algerian navy were called, to join the eastern front of the region, following a tragic accident by illegal immigrants, who were on board of three traditional wooden boats.  

• A 27 year youngster “Ikram Hamza” from Annaba, perished and 18 others dengerously injured, while 16 youngsters are still missing, according to the head of the naval station of the beach guards in Annaba, Abdelaziz Ziadi.
• “81 illegal immigrants started from the beach of “Fifi” in Ras Elhamra, in Annaba, at about 10:30pm, on board of three boats heading for the Italian island Sardinia, before information reached the regional command of the Coast guards about the event. Immediately two units of the naval forces 360 and 355, moved to intercept the illegal immigrants, however, after three hours of pursuit at sea, the illiegal immigrants threatened with collective suicide through setting fire on the boats, it was not just a dodge to escape the pursuit by the naval services, which had controlled the situation, after having been able to surround the three boats on the level of the rocky beaches in Lacarobe.
• At about 2:00am of Friday, the illegal immigrants tried to penetrate the security zone, and headed directly towards the boats of the units using high speed and they crashed, leading to the fall of the two boats. Immediately, services of the navy rushed to save the 45 illegal immigrants lives, whose ages between 14 and 35 years old, as rubber boats were used to save them, following the violent collision, leaving many injured and one dead.
