Illegal immigration organizers torture and leave man for dead in Algeria

Two persons in the province of Tipaza kidnapped a young man and took him to an isolated place. They tortured him before he had been thrown to the sea. They left him for dead as they thought he had told gendarmes about their illegal immigration attempt, Echorouk has learnt.

According to local sources, the 30-year-old man was saved from death. This came as a camp guard had called the National Gendarmerie forces about the incident.

The victim was found handcuffed and had torture traces. He was taken to hospital and an investigation was open.

The criminals were identified. They are illegal immigration organizers who smuggle people to Europe on boats.

The same sources say the kidnappers threw the man to the sea as they thought he had informed the National Gendarmerie forces about their attempt to smuggle themselves.

Earlier last month, an illegal immigration attempt was foiled. The National Gendarmerie forces seized a car and equipment. Twelve people run away as they had planned to smuggle themselves on a small fishing boat.
