Independence Party blackmails Morocco to declare war on Algeria

It was expected that Morocco’s Independence party would withdraw from the government after a series of conflicts between coalition members. Of them, the attempts of the Justice and Development Party to open investigations in corruption cases related to former senior officials, Echorouk has learnt.

 

All it seems that Morocco’s Royal Office was not satisfied over the performance of the government led by Islamists.

The Moroccan reforms government adopted a rapprochement and visits exchange policy with Algeria. This would lead to solve the closed borders problem. Yet, the Independence Party called on the government to kick out the Algerian ambassador and claim the provinces of Bechar and Tindouf.

Attempts of putting pressure on the Moroccan government against Algeria pushed the Independence Party to withdraw. This opportunity was seized to hold anticipated elections and rule out the Justice and Development Party from the government’s leadership, a source at the Justice Party said.

According to observers, certain authorities in Morocco do not want any rapprochement with Algeria and try to exploit the conflict to reach their political goals.
