Indicted farmer produces cannabis in his own house

The Batna criminal court in eastern Algeria will again hear the case of the farmer B.Guendouz accused of drug dealing after the defendant logded an appeal with the Supreme Court.

  • The case goes back to October 2006, when the national Gendarmerie  stormed the farmer’s house in the eastern locality of Beni Slimane discovering 48 shrubs of cannabis planted inside a roofless room.
  • The farmer acknowledged the facts and declared that he bought the illegal substance’s seeds in January 2006 from Oran (western Algeria). He added that the drug dealer was in fact an African grocer who used to display his products on the sidewalk for sale while  keping the illegal substance hidden in a suitcase.
