Intercommunity dissentions in Algerian Meizab region stoked by discord-sowers, says MP
According to an MP belonging to the Ennahda movement, certain opportunistic troublemakers have been seeking to stoke fire in the Algerian Meizab region by linking the incidents, over the past few weeks in the town of Beriane, with a pseudo conflict between the proponents of the Malekite and Ibadite religious rites.
Abu Bakr Abu Saleh explained that these troublemakers want, through a gross manipulation of these incidents, to further worsen the situation to serve personal interests notably by brandishing the so-called religious pretext.
He further underlined that the Ibadites and the Malekites had lived for 14 centuries now, in perfect harmony and peace, despite the vicissitudes of time.
According to the Algerian MP, the current divergences between the residents of Beriane should be settled in a spirit of mutual trust and serenity far away from the “imprecations” of these harmful quarters whose only aim, he said, is to unleash discord and hatred among the Malekites and the Ibadites of the region for unavowed purposes.
