Interior minister hints at a new era for political parties in Algeria

The former candidate for the recent presidential elections, Mohammed Said is still waiting for the go ahead from the interior ministry to create his own political party, called “Justice and Liberty” in order to start his official activities

• Mohammed said is still wondering why the relevant authorities didn’t reply to his request lodged last April 19 asking permission to create his own party in accordance with article 12 of the political parties’ statutes.
• He seized the opportunity to renew his call on the interior minister Yazid Zerhouni, as the latter referred to the political parties and associations on the sidelines of the inauguration of “Al Hamma Park” here in Algiers, saying that his department has taken too much time so far, but didn’t reply to Mohammed Said’s request.
• But he praised the minister’s move to allow the creation of new political parties after 10 years of freeze, adding that he doesn’t know the real causes behind the delay from the relevant department to fix a date in order to lodge his relevant file at the interior ministry for the creation of his party.
