Interior ministry seals a USD 500 million deal with local companies

Interior ministry has the day before yesterday sealed a deal with three major national companies to supply 800 municipalities with equipment valued at USD 530 millions.

• As part of the news deals, the National Company of Industrial Vehicles (SNVI) will make 1300 school buses and 2870 trucks destined for road constructions and garbage collection with a value of USD 310 millions.

• Complete the first 1300 units acquired in 2005 as part of a program designed to improve bussing in Algiers.

• The other contracts whose value was estimated at USD 260 millions will help acquire 1840 public works equipment.
• The minister has asserted that the contracts are part of an overall program designed to protect and assist national companies able to create wealth and jobs. He added that the new economic order is rather biased to protectionism. In this sense the Algerian companies will not move against a logic advocated by the biggest liberal economies.

• For his part the deputy interior minister Dehou Oueld Kablia has declared that the interior ministry is working on a program to assist the national companies in a move to consolidate te national industry, awaiting the “ all-out restructuring” of the local institutions

• For his part, the National Company of Industrial vehicles General Manager, Mokhtar Chihoub has declared that this deal will reduce his company’s debts and enhance its financial situation; in addition to the creation of 1200 new jobs.
