International security experts shift focus on Algeria after terrorist attack

The political mismanagement and relatively unsuccessful media coverage of military assault carried out the Algerian forces on the gas facility of Ain Amenass last week against a group of terrorists, has transformed Algeria to a genuine laboratory for several western countries.

Though tragic, there no comparison to be drawn between the terrorist attack of the gas facility in Algeria and the 9/11 attacks that rocked the Unties States more than a decade ago.

The Canadian authorities have forcefully denied the involvement of Canadian nationals in the terrorist attack despite the official announcement made by the Algerian ones.

They have, in this context, summoned the Algerian ambassador to Ottawa, Smail Ben Amara through the Canadian foreign office to forward clear evidence concerning the involvement of Canadians in this terrorist act.

Reuters press agency has quoted the Canadian official as saying” Canadian officials based in Ottawa and Algeria have formally requested from their Algerian counterparts to be provided with the data used by the Algerian services to identify the Canadians as being among the hostage takers”.

“ Canada has called up the Algerian ambassador to express a formal request to the Algerian authorities” , he added.

Canada has opened an inquiry soon after the announcement of the Algerian authorities that among the terrorist that attacked the gas facility, there were two Canadians, but the Canadian foreign office didn’t rule out the possibility that the passports were forged ones.

The former Canadian intelligence chief has asserted that a number of Canadians could be affiliated with extremists, noting that some 50 of them bear forged Canadian passports has left the country to carry- out terrorist attacks abroad.

The Japanese Foreign Ministry has revealed that the “ deputy minister for foreign affairs Minoro Kiotchi has formally informed the Algerian interior minister Dahou Oueld Kablia that the Japanese authorities were ready to help in the operation search of three missing Japanese nationals”.

Similarly for the Norwegian authorities that dispatched 6 criminal experts to Algeria confirm the existence of two Norwegian among the victims of the terrorist attack carried out last week in Amenass.
