Iraqi Authorities End The Tasks Of Their Ambassador To Algeria

Iraq authorities ended the duties of their ambassador to Algeria, Abderrahmane Hamed al-Husseini, a year and a half after taking office as a successor to the former ambassador Uday al-Khairallah, and the termination of the “extraordinary” tasks was due to mistakes and the diplomat’s inability to carry out the objectives that were entrusted to him, Echorouk informed sources said.

Echorouk sources added that al-Husseini will leave Algeria on December 20 to join another ministry other than the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, and the reasons for the premature termination of his duties is provocation of the silent diplomatic crisis between two countries in June 2016 after the consulate services announced granting visas for Algerians to enter Iraqi territory, for the purpose of religious visits, as his statements received a wave of condemnation of religious organizations and activists on social networks, and they considered it an invitation to spread the Shiite doctrine.

Algerian government condemned these statements at the lips of the Religious Affairs Minister, Mohamed Issa, who said: “We hope that the diplomatic missions will be committed to the tasks that were entrusted to the Algerian doctrine in accordance with the spirit of the constitution and the provisions of the law”.

The minister Mohammed Issa met in his office with the Iraqi ambassador at the time to discuss these statements.

The ambassador also “failed” to improve Iraq’s status in the Algerian public opinion and to develop political relationships between the two countries, including the activation of the Joint Higher Committee, which was suspended since 2003, and distanced himself from the Iraqi community in Algeria (800 people).

Among the other reasons is what is connected to the Iraqi government’s plan of action, as the orientation is currently supporting the Dawa Party, that is headed by the former Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, at all the branches of Iraqi institutions, including the diplomatic structure.

It is known that the outgoing ambassador belongs to the Islamic Party (Brotherhood orientation), that was founded by Tariq al-Hashimi, who fled to Turkey, and the current leaders of the remaining party in Iraq, as is the case with Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jubouri, as they are categorized as “personalities who have accepted political action under what is considered Iranian hegemony over the country”.

Algeria Foreign Ministry settled the position of former media attaché at the Iraqi Embassy in Algeria, Abderrahmane Kanani, and he was officially notified by the services of the Minister Abdelkader Messahel through granting him a “residence card for refugees, and in light of which he will be given a travel document from the competent authorities, in accordance with Geneva convention 1951 between the United Nations and Member States “.
