Iskander Missiles Have Made Algeria A Dominant Power In North Africa.
A Russian website specialized in defense and military issues confirmed that Algeria, thanks to its acquisition of the Russian Iskander ballistic missile system, which has unprecedented accuracy, has become the leading military power in the North African region.
In this context, an analytical article on the Russian website “Top War” mentioned that during the grand military parade organized on November 1, 2024, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the glorious Liberation Revolution, Algeria publicly unveiled the “Iskander-E” ballistic missiles for the first time, noting that this weapon, purchased from Russia, has strengthened Algeria’s position as a leading military power in North Africa.
He commented, “This system, purchased from Russia, has strengthened Algeria’s position as a leading military power in North Africa. As the centerpiece of Algeria’s military arsenal, the ‘Iskander-E’ demonstrates the strategic depth of Algeria’s military capabilities.”
The site pointed out that “Iskander-E” is an export version of the Russian Iskander-M tactical and operational missile system, model Iskander-E, characterized by a range of 280 km. However, it has not lost the precision that distinguishes the basic (base) version.
The specialized defense and military affairs website indicates that the “Iskander-E” missile system is designed for large-scale attacks and provides unprecedented accuracy ranging from 5 to 7 meters, making it an essential tool for neutralizing high-value targets, including command centers, infrastructure, and command and control systems.
“Top War” underlined that Algeria, by receiving this ballistic missile system between 2014 and 2017 through four brigades, confirms its strategic desire to enhance its precise strike capabilities and solidify its position as a dominant military power in North Africa.
