Israel warns nationals against travelling to Algeria

Israel’s Counter-Terrorism Bureau warned its nationals against travelling to 44 states including Algeria due to “terror threats.” Algiers does not have any normalization relation with the Zionist state either on the official or popular level. Algerians boycott any event abroad if Israeli delegations take part in it.

Ahead of Jewish holidays which will take place between September 20th and October 13th, the Bureau released a list of 44 states out of 194 to be avoided by Israeli travelers.

Iran, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Libya, Sudan, Somalia, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Yemen top the list. The Bureau said those states represent high threats on Israelis.

The Bureau also said the biggest threat comes from Jihadist organizations including ISIS. Because of that, it cited states which are close to zones ruled by ISIS as dangerous places for Israelis. Those zones include Turkey, Sinai Peninsula, Egypt and Jordan.

The list also includes western states including countries in North and West Europe.

The Bureau said Israelis will not be prevented from travelling to those countries but they should be vigilant. The Israeli law forbids to travel to six countries and stipulates sanctions on those who violate the law.

The rest of the states in the list are: Algeria, Indonesia, Burkina Faso, Djibouti, Côte d’Ivoire, Mauritania, Mali, Malaysia, Pakistan, Niger, Tunisia, the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Azerbaijan, Morocco, Nigeria, Oman and Kenya. Other places are mentioned in the list: Kashmir, Chechen, Northern Nigeria, Southern Thailand, Eastern Senegal, Northern Cameroon, Western Chad and Nairobi.

It is seen that there is no reason behind the warning against travelling to Algeria because there is no relation with the Zionist state. Its nationals do not enter Algiers.

Earlier in April, an Israeli journalist was part of a delegation which accompanied France’s Prime Minister Manuel Valls on his visit to Algeria. Former foreign minister Ramtane Lamamra committed to take measures to prevent such an event, saying the journalist has an accreditation as he has a French passport.
