Israeli newspaper Maariv’s journalist raises debate at Algeria Parliament
Ramtane Lamamra, Algeria's foreign minister

A large debate was raised as a Zionist journalist entered Algiers on French Prime Minister Manuel Valls’s visit. A reportage about Algeria was published on Israel’s Maariv newspaper.

Members of Parliament addressed oral questions to Algeria’s foreign minister Ramtane Lamamra asking him about the journalist’s visit.

Representative of Algeria’s Green Alliance Nacer Hamamdouche asked Lamamra to say how the government could not identify the Zionist journalist. The latter published details he had obtained from Algerian ministers including the interior minister Nourredine Badaoui.

“Officials should have known that the journalist was not French and did not work for a French newspaper,” said the representative.

Representative of the Justice and Development Front Hassan Aribi addressed a written question to Lamamra. He asked him to explain how a visa was granted to the Zionist journalist.

Five days ago, Arabic-speaking Israeli newspaper Maariv published a reportage about Algiers. It was made by a journalist who accompanied Valls on his last visit to the country.
