Judicial Police Of The Army Security Opens 113 Investigations

The Central Department of the newly created Judicial Police for the Army Security has opened wide investigations into crimes that affect state security, such as incitement, conspiracy, spying, and treason, and all cases that weaken the state and attempt to undermine its prestige and status both internally and externally, in coordination with its regional and local structures. As of this date, 113 cases have been transferred from other security bodies related to the jurisdiction of the military justice.

In the same context, Echorouk sources revealed that the officers of the Central Department of the Judicial Police of the Army Security in coordination with other security services have launched investigations into persons and institutions with moral personality suspected of involvement in cases affecting the security of the state.

According to the same sources, security services received 113 cases until this August, and most of them are related to incitement that aimed at undermining the security and stability of the state, conspiracy, and spying in favor of foreign countries, which will be referred after the completion of investigations by the military justice.

Furthermore, the central department of the judicial police for the army security is currently working in coordination with the regional and local judicial police structures which are affiliated to it through the regions and provinces, and it is charged with searching, investigating and tracking all persons and parties that attempt to harm the security of the state and the authority of the army, and all crimes that aim at weakening the state and trying to harm its prestige and order, both internally and externally, especially in the delicate circumstance that Algeria has been through since February,22, until today.

It is known that the President of the State, Abdelkader Ben Saleh, signed a presidential decree at the beginning of last July, which includes the creation of a central department for judicial police for the security of the army and its functions and organization.

The latest edition of the Official Gazette states that the decision was based on a report by the Minister of Defense and the constitution in its Articles 91, 102, 143 and other laws, as stated in Article II that the central department of the judicial police for the security of the army is managed by a senior officer that is appointed in accordance with the provisions of the regulation of the Ministry of National Defense.

The Department is charged with investigating and examining crimes that fall under the jurisdiction of the military justice and crimes against the security of the State. The activities of the Central Department of the Judicial Police for the Army Security are carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Military Justice Act and the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Among the crimes to be investigated by the central department of Army Security is the state security, according to Algerian law, along the lines of the espionage crime, which is among the most serious crimes that are threatening the state and its existence, the crime of treason, which is also one of the most dangerous crimes against state security, because it is a direct and influential attack on the political existence of the state.

It also includes crimes against state security, political plots, incitement to crimes against state security, non-reporting of crimes against state security, violation of the state’s prestige, terrorist crimes and anything that would weaken the state and attempt to undermine it, its prestige and place both internally and externally.
