Kaïs Saïed: “Algeria, Tunisia Coordinate For The Stability Of Libya”

Coordination between Libya’s neighbouring countries in resolving the crisis is very important and there is continuous Algerian-Tunisian coordination on the file, Tunisia President Kais Saied said on Wednesday.

According to a statement by the Tunisian presidency; “The President of the Republic, Kais Saied, received on Wednesday, September 2, at the Carthage Palace, the Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Stephanie T. Williams”.

“During the meeting, the latest developments of the situation in brotherly Libya and the international efforts to restore the path of a political settlement to the current crisis were discussed”, the statement added.

“The President of the Republic affirmed the constants of the Tunisian position on the Libyan issue calling for a comprehensive political settlement to this crisis that preserves the unity and sovereignty of Libya within the framework of an inclusive Libyan-Libyan dialogue under the umbrella of the United Nations and stressed the importance of the role of neighbouring countries in pushing for a peaceful solution to this crisis, referring to the coordination and consultations that exist between Tunisia and Algeria to achieve stability in this brotherly country”.

“In this context, the head of state reiterated Tunisia’s welcome to the ceasefire agreement in Libya as an important step towards restoring stability and resuming the political process, confirming our country’s commitment to continue supporting the efforts of the UN mission to Libya to achieve its noble goals”.
