Karim Ziani to sue Egyptian media over defamation

The Algerian midfielder Karim Ziani has declared that he will approach the German TV channel ZDF to get clarifications concerning allegations; relayed by some Egyptians who declared that the channel has reported the player’s apologies for the Egyptian people in the wake of the events that occurred during the two matches between the “Greens” and the “Pharaohs”.

• The player has strongly denied giving any declaration to the German channel and he couldn’t do it because simply he doesn’t master the German language.
• Karim Ziani went on saying that he was surprised to hear that some Egyptian media have reported these allegations, adding that he will not exclude the possibility to lodge a complaint against them for defamation after consulting his lawyers.
• The player has indicated that the move is meant by to destabilize the Algeria squad ahead of the African Cup of Nations tournament due to take place in Angola starting from January 10.
• However, he added, the Egyptians have to apology for the sad events and the attacks on the Algerian players before the match of November14, expressing his hope to play again the Egyptians in Angola to prove that the “Greens” really deserve to be in the world Cup.
