Lamamra To Visit Brussels For A Partnership Agreement With EU

State and Foreign and International Cooperation Minister, Ramtane Lamamra, will lead, on Monday, the Algerian delegation to participate in the works of the tenth session of the European Union Partnership Council.

According to a statement of the Foreign Ministry, a final document that is containing the results of evaluating the implementation of the partnership agreement between Algeria and the European Union is expected to be approved, as it is a review process that was previously ordered by the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, by the end of 2015, after the agreement faced a number of criticism that is led by official bodies and even specialists and experts in economy.

Same statement said that this session will be chaired jointly for the European side by the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Fderica Mogherini, at a time when the meeting of the supreme body for consultation and political dialogue, which was established under the Partnership Agreement, is considered a new opportunity for the two parties to review the prospects for cooperation and partnership between Algeria and the EU.

“The meeting will give a strong signal to the economic operators in order to seize many opportunities that are created by the partnership agreement, in order to make it a tool in the service of a harmonious and balanced development of partnerships that are beneficial to Algeria and the European Union”.

Three agreements will be signed during this meeting, on cooperation in the areas of renewable energies and the reform of public finances, and to continue to accompany the implementation of the Partnership in the total value of 40 million euros under the work program for the year 2017.
