Large Crowd Of Mourners Attend Late Warda Al Djazairia's Funerals

The legendary Algerian singer, late Warda Al Djazairia, was buried Saturday at the Al Alia cemetery on the eastern outskirts of Algiers in the presence of a large crowd of mourners hailing from various parts of the country and from abroad.


  • Earlier in the day, during a ceremony of remembrance in the presence of culture minister Mrs Khalida Toumi and other officials, the mortal remains of late Warda laid in state at the palace of culture “Moufdi Zakaria” in the capital Algiers where her 2 children namely Riad and Widad received heart-felt messages of condolence by the numerous mourners who came to pay a last tribute to the diva of “Tarab El Arabi” late Warda Al Djazairia.

  • The mortal remains of Warda El Djazairia arrived yesterday, Friday evening at the international airport of Algiers from the Egyptian capital Cairo, aboard a special flight chartered by the presidency of the Republic.

  • Surrounding the children of late Warda, several high-ranking political figures were present at the culture palace to pay a last tribute to the late singer, including Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci, Minister of Culture Khalida Toumi, Minister of Communication Nacer Mehal, Minister of Water Resources Abdelmalek Sellal and Secretary of State for National Community Abroad Halim Ben Attallah.

  • Two advisers to King Mohamed VI of Morocco were among a foreign delegation, including the ambassador of the State of Palestine in Algeria and several Arab diplomats accredited to Algiers, who joined in the ceremony to pay the final tribute to the icon of the Arab song.

  • Many Algerian artists and writers, including writer Amin Zaoui, former Minister Azzedine Mihoubi and former Minister and Ambassador to Cairo Mustapha Cherif, also attended the ceremony.
