A mega movie project entitled “ Boumedienne.. a nation’s tale†portraying the life of the late Algerian president Houari Boumedienne is set to be shot as from the beginning of June, “Echorouk†sources revealed.

The movie, which script was written by the French Jean Claude Laloua, will be directed by the Egyptian Mohammed Fadhel, the director of the blockbuster “ Nacer 56” while the Algerian movie maker Yamina Chouikh is set to take part in this work.

The work will tackle a specific period in the life of the president starting from the nationalization of the hydrocarbons. It portrays the means of pressure used by Houari Boumedienne at that time on the western countries to call on a new international order and support for the Palestinian cause.

The movie ends at the non- aligned countries’ summit and the reconciliation between the “Cheh” of Iran and former Iraqi president Saddam Hossein initiated by Houari Boummedienne.

The movie will highlight the role of current Algerian president activities during this period as the Algerian foreign affairs minister and close at the death of Houari Boumedienne in 1978.

This co-production was made possible with the participation of the Algerian “Fox Algérie” and a French and Egyptian two other companies costing some 20 million Euros.

While the producers are beating the bushes select the actors likely to portray the character of the late president Houari Boumedienne and his foreign minister Abdelaziz Bouteflika, our sources revealed that the Egyptian director has short listed the Egyptian icon Nour Echerif and Magdi kamel to play the late president Djamel Abdenacer.
