Letter of Ahmed Ibrahim jailed in Spain disclosed

The President’s office called businessman Ahmed Ibrahim daughter asking her about information on her father sentenced to 10 years prison in Spain for belonging to an armed organisation, she said.

• This call came following a letter addressed to the office to meet President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and show him facts about the first imprisonment of an Arab in Spain in a security-related case.
• “The calling authorities promised me to call me back later,” Karima Ibrahim told Echorouk.
• “I submitted a file on my father to the Algerian solidarity ministry last month. I am waiting for the Algerian official authorities’ response to rescue my father,” she added.
• Ahmed Ibrahim’s wife Finnish born Samira said her husband is still suffering from provocations from prison guards in the Spanish capital Madrid.
• “He is in bad health conditions,” she added.
• “There is only the hope of a miracle for the release of my husband.”
• According to a letter sent by Ahmed Ibrahim who has been jailed for 7 years, the real and only reason for his imprisonment is a system project meant to update the library of the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina.
• He was planning to conduct this project in collaboration with IT4U SWEDEN to preserve tapes of preaches.
• The idea succeeded in early 2000 but it was not completely achieved as their equipments were seized and Spanish security forces arrested him.
• He was accused of contacting suspects wanted by the US intelligence.
