Libyan self-styled revolutionaries tarnish Algeria’s image

The so-called revolutionaries continued their campaign to tarnish Algeria’s image although it had officially announced that it did not intervene in Libya’s domestic affairs.

  • According to the Middle East newspaper, the Libyan Transitional Council submitted a memorandum to the Arab League accusing Algeria of providing Gaddafi’s forces with weapons and fighters.
  •
  • The Council asked the Arab League to assign a commission to investigate in the “suspicious violations” conducted by the Algerian air forces and the national airliner to carry military equipments, arms and mercenaries to the Libyan regime.
  •
  • The Council said the Solidarity Association for Human Rights has official documents which prove that the Algerian air forces and the national airliner Air Algerie had organised special trips for Gaddafi.
  •
  • An Algerian diplomatic source told Echorouk Algeria knows well who is behind this campaign. “We noted an escalation of accusations against Algeria in the last few weeks. Moroccan associations in Europe have been raising those accusations. Racahd movement sent representatives to Banghazi. They incite the Transitional Council to accuse Algeria of transporting mercenaries and providing Gaddafi’s regime with weapons.”
  •
  • The Council’s representative in Egypt tried to attenuate the campaign, saying “this memorandum is not a complaint against sister Algeria. It is a inquiry and reproach as part of brotherhood and neighbourhood between the Algerian and Libyan people.”
  •
  • Those polite words will not cover he serious accusations against Algeria.
  •
  • The campaign did not reach just the Algerian government and its army. It also touched the Algerian people as it says they are mercenaries who kill for money.
  •
  • Because of that, the public opinion in Algeria is now against the revolutionaries.
  •
  • The Libyan opposition tarnished the popular revolutions in the Arab world. Instead of using peaceful ways to defeat the regime, it waged a bloody war where 10,000 Libyans were killed.
