Local officials involved in funds’ misappropriations

The ministry of solidarity started an inquiry on various cases of misappropriations of funds initially dedicated to a category of people living in precarious conditions.

• A large number of officials in charge of distributing this money are involved in this scandal, taking advantage of their posts to either embezzle these funds for their own benefits or their relatives and friends.

• First elements of the investigation ordered by the ministry revealed that some 70 thousand out of 270 thousand “beneficiaries” countrywide were dropped from the list set by the relevant ministry which comprises the names of elderly people and disabled ones.

• It should be noted that the National Agency for social development has started an in-depth investigation on the affair since almost a year.
