Louh: “Algeria steadily forges ahead in promotion of free movement of people”

Mr. Tayeb Louh, the Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, has denied the existence of any secret detention centers in Algeria, noting that lawyers can check this out, and make visits if they wish, whether by day or by night.

The minister also pointed out that the freedom of movement of individuals has become very restricted in the developed countries unlike Algeria.

He further pointed out that Algeria has made great leaps forward in the promotion of the free movement of people, human rights and fundamental liberties, arguing that any restrictive decision on the matter won’t be taken through an administrative injunction but should be referred exclusively to justice in order to become valid  in keeping with the relevant provisions of the country’s constitution.

Mr Louh implicitly alluded to the recent divisive decree signed by the new American president Donald Trump which prohibits entry into the USA to the nationals of seven predominantly Muslim countries and which provoked a bitter outrage on the part of the international community.

This contentious decree is now at the center of a great politico-judicial controversy in the United States and has triggered off a tidal wave of condemnations throughout the world because it seriously infringes on the free movement of people and fundamental freedoms.
